ETOSHA PAN - NAMIBIA

Hi to all my fellow travellers!  Today we visit the Etosha Pan's in Namibia.  Declared a National Park in 1907, covering 22 300km.  Over 100 mamal species, over 300 bird species, reptiles, amphibian and only ONE species of fish!

Etosha means "Great White Place" due to the large mineral pan.  When dry, it looks like a large salt pan.  Best times to visit is May - September, otherwise you'll melt from the heat.

Three campsites are available with restaurants, shops, fuel garage and minor repairs, swimming pool and various grades of accomodations.  A new camp, The Onkoshi opened in 2008.  Luxury accomodations available just outside the park where you can enjoy a guided tour in the Park.

If you opt to stay in the Park itself, there are no guided tours.  All self-drive.  So please, don't get out of the car to admire the cute wildlife, unless you want your head taken off!

The main gate to the Park, is called Andersson Gate.  You can enjoy camping, day trips, fishing, fly-in safaris, hiking, horse riding and honeymoon safaris.

Tours of Africa: MOUNT KILIMANJARO

Tours of Africa: MOUNT KILIMANJARO

MOUNT KILIMANJARO

Welcome to a place where dreams are made of!  Isn't it stunning?  Also known as the "Mountain of Mystery" due to its snowcap in Africa.  She reaches 19 341ft and consists of 3 peaks which you can climb.  SHIRA PEAK @ 3962m,  MAWENZI PEAK @ 5149m and KIBO PEAK @ 5895m.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa on the northern side of Tanzania. She's an extinct volcanoe.  In 1861, Richard Thornton was the 1st climber to attempt her, but failed.

Best times to go climbing is Jan., Feb., Sep., Oct. & December, otherwise you get to much rain and this tough tour becomes unpleasant.

Climbing Kilimanjaro can be combined with a Kenyan safari tour.  Treks are 6-10 days and anything from 9-100km.  Various tours are available to suite you.  Prices vary and include accomodation, meals, camping equipment, climbing permit, government taxes, oxygen, salaries for guides and crew.....

You can also opt for skydiving, hotair balloon rides, horseback safaris and more.  At an extra cost, you can get photos and videos of your tour.

You get a certifiate if  you succesfully complete your climb.  So, I suggest, unlike me, you get fit as a fiddle, plan well and enjoy the fresh air of Mount Kilimanjaro!

Chow for now!

Madagascar is the 4th largest island in the world, off the east coast of Mozambique.  Surrounded with beautiful golden beaches, plateaus, volcanoes, forests, nature reserves and ancient ruines.  There are 3 000 species of butterflies!

You can enjoy watersports, hiking, golf, pony treks.  Admire the variety of bird species, rare orchids and the infamous lemurs!  Visit the forests, go on eco tours and safaris.

Prices start from $3 795 p/p sharing.  Solo's are from $4 895.  Prices are subject to change.

Visit there website, it's truly beautiful!  Lots of info and a photo gallery. http://www.iexplore.com/
