BAVIAANSKLOOF - MAKKEDAAT CAVES

WOW!  WHAT A GEM!  I thought Donkieskraal was fantastic, but this place is BEAUTIFUL!!

Makkedaat Cave is situated in the Baviaanskloof, 50km from Willowmore in the Eastern Cape.  Not only one sleep-in cave, but also the Van Terrebert Cave, Aalwyn Bak, Dawid Bak & Dassie Bak Caves.

These are natural caves with rocky overhangs and sleep 8-10 people.  Electricity, flush toilets, hot & cold water.  Makkedaat Cave only sleeps 8 and has a small kitchen with a gas stove.

Meals supplied on request.  You can also buy wood, bar-b-q meat and home baked bread at the Populiersbos campsite.

Van Terrebert Cave sleeps 10.  Double story, self catering.  Bring your own bedding for this one.  The Potato Room is for rustic, overnight sleeping.  So, if you get tired along the way or want an early start on the hiking trails, this is the place to sleep.

This area is also the home of the Black Eagle, various buck and amazing vegetation.

Go hiking, swimming, mountain biking (motor or self-propelled energy!), 4x4 trails, donkey cart rides and guided tours.  You can also opt for an Edu-Hike with one of the local guides who'll show and teach you about the plants in the area.

The views are breathtaking.  The pool dries up in the hot, dry seasons.  Snow in the winter. This is the closets you'll get to Heaven!  Prices are from R140 p/p upwards.
